- What are the hours of the school?
Classes are held five days a week for two eighteen-week semesters. Each semester is broken up into three six-week sessions. Junior high and high school days are composed of seven 50-minute classes.

- How old does a student have to be to enter kindergarten or first grade?

Students must have successfully completed an approved kindergarten program or be found to be academically and developmentally ready for the first grade.

- Do you have admissions testing?
Testing scores are just one of the items we evaluate as part of our application process to assist us in determining grade placement. We will test students that do not have recent standardized testing scores available. We also do a screening for kindergarten applicants to verify that they are developmentally ready to begin a full-day K5 program.
- What is unique about Heritage Christian School? How is it different from public schools or other private schools in the area?
HCS provides the opportunity to experience the full student life. HCS students further develop their Christian character, train in Gods Word, and receive a top-notch education without sacrificing some of the other activities that go along with the student experience: the excitement of athletic events, a quality drama and music program, and student activities such as a junior/senior prom.
- Do you have a dress code?
Heritage Christian School utilizes school uniforms. The primary purpose of uniforms is to give parents and students general guidelines for appropriate school clothing and appearance.

- What is your teacher to student ratio?
Smaller class sizes allow teachers to more effectively communicate with and instruct their students. For this reason, we endeavor to maintain the following teacher to student ratios:
Kindergarten 4 & 5 1:10
Elementary 1-6 1:15

- Do you provide before-school and after-school care?
Yes, before-school and after-school care is available to HCS families. A limited number of basic breakfast items are available from the lunch room for early arrival students between 7:15 and 7:45am. A light snack will be served during the after-school program.

One child $5.00 per hour or any part thereof, weekly and monthly rates are available from the school office.

- Are scholarships or financial aid available?
Yes. HCS does offer limited financial aid. Detailed information is available from the school office. We endeavor to keep our tuition rates affordable.
- What are the beliefs of Heritage Christian School?
HCS is a private, independent, non-denominational Christian school. Our Statement of Faith details our beliefs and the basis for what we teach in our Bible classes.
- How often do you have Bible classes and chapel services?
Elementary and middle school students have daily Bible classes. We also incorporate biblical truths into every subject. Elementary students participate in weekly chapel services and secondary students have bi-weekly chapel services.
- What curriculum is used at HCS?
In order to meet the educational needs of each student, Heritage Christian School is dedicated to using the finest curriculum available. As a private school, we endeavor to utilize textbooks written from a Christian perspective when possible. Current curriculum used at the elementary level includes:

- Do you have honors and advanced placement classes?
Out goal at HCS is to train and develop children spiritually, academically, socially, and physically, with the express aim of preparing each child to fulfill the God-given plan for his or her life. For those students who desire to attend college, we do offer honors English (11th and 12th grade), Pre-AP Biology and Chemistry, and AP Chemistry and U.S. History.
- What special courses are available to elementary students?
At the elementary level we offer Spanish, art, music, library resources, computer, and physical education.
- What are some of the accomplishments of HCS graduates?
In addition to numerous graduates that are attending four-year colleges and universities on academic scholarships, several students in our athletic programs have attained athletic scholarships.
- Does HCS offer a home-school program?
Yes, but we accept home-schooled students who wish to embrace a traditional Christian classroom environment. We use academic records and rely on placement tests for verification of academic ability. Presently, we are in the process of expanding our Christian school ministry to include homeschoolers. This means that certain classes will be available to home-schooled students in grades 8-12 on a limited basis. Call the office for more details.
- Do you offer special education classes or handicapped services?
Our school offers a traditional classroom setting with some additional help available for students able to be educated in a regular classroom. HCS does not have separate special education classes.
- What team sports do you have available?
As in all other areas, Heritage Christian School endeavors to compete at the highest levels. We have many different sport teams for boys and girls, with competition beginning at the 1st grade in such activities as basketball, football, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, and cheerleading. Our athletic programs are competitive with local private schools. Our varsity baseball team has won two state titles. Our school is a proud member of the I.C.S.G.A., LLC Athletic Association. - What non-athletic activities do you offer?
Each student is encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, and we offer a variety of options in order to appeal to different interests. Activities include Presidential Physical Fitness, Quiz Bowl, Spiritual Emphasis Week, Spirit Week, Junior/Senior Banquets, Homecoming, pep rallies, student government, spelling bees, educational field trips, art shows, music competitions, and musical and drama productions.
- Are hot lunches provided?
Currently, hot lunches are available on specified days Monday through Friday. Lunch menus and prices are posted in the weekly Heritage Gazette and on our website. All items must be paid for when purchased no charges.
- What is your discipline policy?
Discipline and learning go hand in hand to build character and to allow students to develop their God-given abilities; therefore, the school uses such disciplinary measures as instruction, exhortation, correction, and rebuke. Demerits are also used in an effort to achieve the ultimate goal of self-discipline. Punishment may also include detention hall, suspension, or expulsion.
- What are the general rules for discipline?
- Follow directions promptly with a good attitude.
- Walk quietly to and from assigned areas.
- Keep hands, feet, and personal objects to yourself.
- Come to class prepared and complete all work assigned.
- Use appropriate language. Disrespectful speech and unkind words are not permitted
- How can parents get involved at HCS?
After your application has been approved, parents can be involved as teacher helpers, lunch room or recess monitors, field trip assistants, and helpers at teacher-directed parties.
- What fundraising will I have to do for school activities?
Some of our extracurricular groups have opportunities to raise money for athletics and for other activities such as the senior trip; however, we keep a close watch on the number of fundraisers allowed. Our school is primarily funded by tuition/fee payments. Two school-wide fundraisers are required during the year. One in the fall and one in the spring. Parents may choose to pay the fundraising fee if they choose not to participate.
- Does HCS provide transportation or busing?
No. HCS relies on parents and families to get students to and from school each day.
- Are car pools organized?
Yes, at the beginning of the school year, HCS provides names of families who have registered and reside in the same zip code.
- Is anyone in the office(s) during the summer?
The office is only open on specified days during the summer. Summer office hours are available on our website.
- When may I visit the school?
Prospective families may attend an Open House in January of each year. Each Open House is scheduled for 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Visits can also be scheduled by calling the school office. HCS allows tours and, or, shadowing of students. Shadowing students must complete a shadowing application form.
