School Profile

Location
Heritage Christian has been providing Christian education since 1965. HCS is located on a 40 acre tract of land on Hwy. 34 in Sharpsburg, GA. We are 4 miles off of I-85 at exit 51; one mile east of Hwy 154 and Thomas Crossroads; six miles from Peachtree City, and five miles from Newnan.


Facility
Our 48,000 square feet of space includes a sanctuary, library, computer room, music room, gymnasium, individual classrooms, art room, softball field, baseball field, football/soccer field, playground, and covered pavilion.


Philosophy
Heritage Christian School is a private educational ministry offering grades Kindergarten 4 through 12th grades. We adhere to the Statement of Faith of the Association of Christian Schools International (A.C.S.I.). It is intended that each student will obtain a Christ-centered and biblically-integrated education with an emphasis on academic and spiritual excellence.


Membership
Heritage Christian is a proud member of the Association of Christian Schools International (A.C.S.I.) and the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama Athletic Association (I.C.S.G.A.). Students are admitted to HCS on the basis of standardized test scores (60 percentile or more), academic performance (2.3 GPA above), and Christian commitment.


Extracurricular Activities
Athletics: Heritage Christian is a proud member of the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama Athletic Association (I.C.S.G.A.). HCS also competes with other Christian schools outside of our own association. Sports offered includes JV Volleyball, Varsity Volleyball, 8-Man Tackle Football, JV Girls Basketball, JV Boys Basketball, Varsity Girls Basketball, Varsity Boys Basketball, Varsity Girls Softball, Varsity Boys Baseball, Golf, and Cross Country. HCS also offers intramural sports for students in the elementary and middle grades.
Music: Heritage Christian offers a full band program that includes drums, strings, and advanced strings. Private lessons are also offered after regular school hours.

Standardized Testing
Heritage Christian administers the following standardized test:
  • K-5 thru 11 Stanford Achievement Test
  • Grades 9-11 PSAT / NMSQT
Juniors are required to take the SAT I
Seniors are required to take one SAT II and ACT one time. Average SAT verbal 574, Average SAT Math 552, Average Composite 1126 (last 5 years).


Student Academic Load
Students in grades 7-12 have 7 50 minute class periods per day. A normal student load is 5 required classes and 2 electives per day. Student help classes are available Monday through Friday from 3:15 P.M. to 3:45 P.M.

Summer School
Summer school is required for students needing to repeat a course of study for students in grades 9-11. The administration and/or teachers may also require or recommend summer school for certain students based on final grades and Standardized Tests.


Class Rank
Heritage Christian does not rank students except for valedictorian and salutatorian designations. Students must have been enrolled in HCS for a minimum period of two years to be eligible for the valedictorian or salutatorian awards.


Chapels, Bible Classes, Seminars
Chapels are held weekly with special speakers, musicians, films, or HCS students/faculty ministering the principles of the Word of God to the students. Times of special spiritual emphasis are also held during the year. Students also attend daily Bible classes. The Bible curriculum is designed to give general Bible knowledge and principles with the desire to see each student grow in his/her personal relationship to Jesus Christ. These classes include, but are not limited to New Testament Survey, Old Testament Survey, New Testament History, Old Testament History, and The Walk Thru the Bible.
